Birders,

Around 12:05 p.m. today I found a group of *five Ross's Geese* with a flock
of Canada Geese in a shallow wet spot in corn stubble, about 300 feet
northwest of US 31 and Townline Road in Grant East Township, Mason County.
The birds were viewed with a 20-60x lens on a Leica spotting scope, and the
stubby pink bill with bluish base was clearly visible, while no dark "grin
patch" was evident. Around 12:20 p.m. a noisy truck drove west along
Townline Road, which caused the Ross's Geese to take flight. They circled
the area a few times and disappeared. This represents the 1st record for
Mason County. Photographs were also taken.
