Greetings,
An adult Black-legged Kittiwake passed by the Douglas Public Beach, Allegan
Co. at about 8:30am today during the Lake Michigan Shoreline Bird Count, 17
April 2011. It was headed north about 200 meters off shore. However, a call
to the group counting up the coast at Holland State Park did not get them on
the bird. Other highlights present at DPB were over 800 Long-tailed Duck and
8 White-winged Scoter.
The Snowy Egret posted by Bill Martinez was still at the Palomita Reserve at
2 pm today. It took some patience, but the bird finally obliged us and came
out form an alcove to feed on the far west shore of the marsh. It is easily
viewed from the shoulder of the road. See Bill's previous post for more
details and directions.
Good birding,
Rick Brigham
Douglas MI
