All-

Just spoke with Skye Haas and the adult Ross's Gull was seen as close as 150-200 meters offshore, from the extreme southern tip of the Keweenaw Bay. The CBC participants, including Joe and Skye, stopped along the roadside of US-41 at this point, and scanned the bay from there. This is the only location from which the bird has been seen currently (10:53AM), and Skye said they hadn't seen it in perhaps 30 minutes, and that they were working their way up the Baraga (city) side of Keweenaw Bay to refind it.

Good luck if you go!

All-

Joe Kaplan just called and is looking at an adult Ross's Gull in Keweenaw Bay. He is standing at the first overlook "down from L'Anse" overlooking the bay, and the bird is at fair distance. He also mentioned that some of the folks participating (in the Keweenaw Bay CBC) feel there is a 2nd Ross's Gull present with the first bird, but from what I could gather it may not yet be confirmed.

The identity of the first bird, Joe said, is not in doubt. It had pink underparts, gray underwing, wedge-shaped tail, etc.

Good Birding,
Caleb Putnam
