Hello,

Jon Wuepper called me this morning to notify me that Caleb Putnam was on the
possible Fish Crow at Forest Lawn Landfill. I arrived there around 9:15 AM,
and at approximately 10:15 the Fish Crow solitarily flew towards the
landfill from the south and called once. ("cah-ah" call).

At approximately 3:15 PM, the Fish Crow flew from the south with another
crow and cawed four or five times.(These caws were recorded...) At
approximately 3:25 PM, the Fish Crow flew south again with a few crows, and
cawed an additional two or three times.

Caleb had observed the crow twice (at 7:00 AM and at approximately 8:15 AM)
before I arrived.

Our 10:15 observation of the Fish Crow was from along the landfill fence
northwest of the gravel pull-off (off Martin, follow the snowmobile
trail...)

However, when the crow was observed in the afternoon, we were actually
standing near where we'd parked on Martin Rd.; this seemed to be a somewhat
better vantage point.

The pull-out on Martin is west of Basswood Rd. & east of the creek (Spring
Creek).

Tomorrow, as operation would presumably resume at the landfill, it may be
difficult to hear the Fish Crow over machinery. Also, one may want to check
with the landfill office (if open), so workers will know why people are
scoping the landfill!

Good Birding,
Alison Világ
