Hello-

9:30am, May 18, 2009:

I just spoke to Pat Underwood who is at the Forest Lawn Landfill. He says that the previously reported FISH CROW has NOT been relocated. Work at the landfill has commenced this morning and has created a lot of noise pollution, making it near impossible to hear any bird activity coming from the dump.

Earlier this morning, several birders walked Forest Lawn Road in hopes of observing the bird, but to my knowledge there was no luck.

One would guess that work at the landfill would probably cease for the day around 5:00pm, but I don't know for sure.

Birders may also want to try for the bird along Martin Road, west of Basswood Road and northeast of the Michigan-Indiana state line.

I have not been updated on the Forest Lawn Landfill access situation, but I think Kip Miller spoke to someone in the office today. I'll post any updates if and when new information is reported from the field.

NOTE- Craig Bateman was the third birder (along with Matt Hysell and Tim Baerwald) who originally found the bird on Saturday during the 21st annual Southwest Michigan Team Birdathon.

Good Birding,

Jon Wuepper
