With apologies for the lateness of this message, yesterday Adam Byrne, Tex Wells, and I found two White-faced Ibises at the Pte. Mouillee State Game Area, Monroe Co. One was an adult, whereas the other was in its first spring.
I expect that one of these two accounted for the single ibis seen by Will Weber this morning.
Like Will, we wondered if the first-spring bird was the same individual seen recently at Lake Erie Metropark.
Whatever the case, the two birds alternated between the south end of the Lautenschlager Unit and the tiny pool on the east side of the pumphouse dike. (The pumphouse dike is, obviously, the dike on which the pumphouse is located; it separates Mouillee Creek from the NW corner of the Lead Unit.)
Also at Pte. Mouillee on Saturday were two Cattle Egrets (on the rookery island in the Lead Unit), six Whimbrels (N end of cell 3), two White-rumped Sandpipers (south end of the Lautenschlager Unit), one Wilson's Phalarope (flying along the dike between the Vermet and Long Pond units), and one Red-necked Phalarope (N end of cell 3).
