In a rather brief visit today (May 8) to Pte. Mouillee, I walked the
Mouillee Creek (middle) dike out to the extreme western corner of the
Vermet unit, in hopes of seeing the Willets reported out there
yesterday. However, they were not there today, at least in very
early afternoon. But on the way out I did see an Avocet. It was
feeding in the southwestern end of Long Pond (clearly visible from
the middle dike), about midway between the dike that separates Long
Pond and Bloody Run and the dike between Long Pond and the Vermet
Unit. I saw nothing else particularly noteworthy.
