*Ontonagon County*
Don May reported a WHOOPING CRANE at the corner of Gardiner and 5 Mile Rd in
Interior Township on May 2nd.

*Keweenaw County*
Zach Gayk and Scott Hickman found a *"AUDUBON'S" YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER** in
Copper Harbor on May 4th. Zach also reported 2 BOREAL CHICKADEES in Bete
Grise on the 3rd.  2-3 GOLDEN EAGLES were seen on Brockway Mountain on the
3rd. Laurie Binford had an AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN on the 2nd.

*Houghton County*
Joe Youngman found a WILLET at the Chassel Park on May 6th. This has been a
good location for AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS this spring with up to 20 seen on
April 25th, and  4 birds lingering to at least May 7th. Joe also reported a
GOLDEN EAGLE at Arnheim on the 25th. Owen Mills reported a BLACK-BACKED
WOODPECKER at the Swedetown Marsh on May 3rd.

*Baraga County*
Morty Harwood reported a WHOOPING CRANE flying south over the Baraga Plains
on May 2nd, quite possible the same bird from the Ontonagon report.

*Dickinson County*
Greg Cleary reported 3 RUDDY DUCKS at Fumee Lake on April 25th.

*Marquette County*
4 CATTLE EGRETS were observed flying east over Marquette Bay on May 5th.
Ryne Rutherford reported a WESTERN MEADOWLARK at the Presque Isle Bogwalk on
the 6th. 1 MARSH WREN has been present at the Presque Isle Bogwalk since May
1st, and was joined by a second wren on the 5th. A female YELLOW-HEADED
BLACKBIRD was at the Bogwalk on the 4th. A SNOWY OWL was present in the
Presque Isle Marina on May 2nd. A number of WILLET sightings have occured in
Marquette in the last week with a flock of 7 WILLETS at the Dead River mouth
on the 2nd; 2 WILLETS at Founders Landing in the lower harbor on the 3rd,
and a flock of 7 again at the mouth of the Dead River on the 7th. Morty
Harwood reported a GRAY JAY along CO RD 478 on May 2nd. A RED-THROATED LOON
was present in the lower harbor of Marquette from April 26-27th. A
RED-THROATED LOON was seen migrating past the Big Bay lighthouse on May 4th.
Cindy Lynne found 3 SPRUCE GROUSE near Noren Lake in Old Swanzy on April
18th. At least 2 ICELAND GULLS lingered until May 2nd in Marquette.

*Delta County*
Glenn VandeWater found a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE in Kipling just west of
the DNR access site on the bay on April 28th. The bird was still present as
of May 5th. A RUDDY DUCK has also been present at this location as well as
two pairs of RED-NECKED GREBES on breeding territory.

*Alger County*
The Babbits photographed an AMERICAN AVOCET in Grand Marais on April 25th.
Scott Hickman found a flock of 7 WILLETS at the mouth of the AuTrain River
on April 30th. Mark & Joanie Hubinger had a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE
along the Slapneck Creek north of Chatham on April 28th. Mark also reported
an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL from the mouth of the Rock River on April
28th. 3 CACKLING GEESE were just east of Chatham on April 24th. A COMMON
CHAFFINCH has been coming to the feeders of John Hurst since April 27th, and
has been present for over a week. Rare inland, and almost unheard of on a
sewage pond, Janet Bordeaux reported a RED-NECKED GREBE at the Chatham farm
ponds on April 26th. David Pavlik had an ICELAND GULL in Munising on April
25th.

*Luce County*
Dixie Stewart had a NORTHERN HAWK OWL along M-28 just west of the West
Branch of the Sage River on May 4th. Louie Dombroski had an NORTHERN
MOCKINGBIRD at Lake Muskellunge State Park on May 7th.

*Chippewa County*
Constituting a 2nd Point record was an AMERICAN AVOCET at the Harbor of
Refuge at WPBO on April 25th. Notable at the hawk-watch was a probable
*"KRIDER'S"
RED-TAILED HAWK** on May 6th. Highlights from the owl banding program have
been extensive and 51 NORTHERN SAW-WHETS, 24 BOREAL, 28 LONG-EARED and a
single SHORT-EARED OWL has been banded in May alone. Other owl sightings
include 3 GREAT GRAY OWL around the parking lot May 1-3rd, SNOWY OWL on
April 25, and 2 SHORT-EARED OWLS on the 25th and one on the 2nd. Other
highlights include 1 GOLDEN EAGLE and 1 PIPING PLOVER on the 7th; 2 GOLDEN
EAGLES and 1 AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER on the 6th; 9 GOLDEN EAGLES on the 4th;
58 RED-THROATED LOONS and 1 PIPING PLOVER on the 3rd; and 5 GOLDEN EAGLES on

Mackinac County*
Mark & Joanie Hubinger found a WESTERN MEADOWLARK at Pt. LaBarbe on May 5th.
