Greetings,

Deb Overbeek has been hosting a 1st spring male Summer Tanager since yesterday evening.  From about 3:30 - 4:30 today, we observed the bird on 2 trips to the tree branches above the feeders.  The bird didn't come to the feeders on the second approach; we may have been too close.  She has invited interested birders to stop by.

Deb lives in Holland on the NE corner of Butternut Dr., 152nd Ave, and Ransom as the 3 merge.  Take US 31 to either Riley or New Holland and head west.  If taking Riley, take a right at Butternut Dr. (mobile gas station on corner).  Head NW for a couple of miles.  If taking New Holland, take a left at 152nd and head South for about 1/2 mile.  Her drive is on Butternut and she asked that birders park in the branch of the drive that heads towards the outbuilding.  Please don't park on Butternut or 152nd, very busy with high speed traffic.

She has two sets of feeders; one on the front SW corner and one on the  front  SE corner of the house.  The bird has been frequenting the SW feeders, particularly the suet and the small blue dish (contains a fruit/nut mix).  The bird has been observed to approach from the NW spending time in the branches of the large tree above the feeders before approaching the feeders.

Thanx Deb!

Regards,
red-necked stilt
