Birders,
Returning from a nice half day trip to the Crane Creek boardwalk,
where birding was pretty good, my party stopped at Lake Erie Metro
Park in hopes of sighting the previously reported White-faced Ibis.
Got it almost immediately hanging at the south end of the park
(Fisherman's Cove) and associating with geese at first (strange
sight!) and then fending off Ring-billed Gulls as it successfully
probed for worms in standing water on the turf grass.
Crane Creek birds of the day were probably the Cape May Warblers and
show-stopping Northern Parulas, both foraging near eye level. Not a
fallout day, but thoroughly enjoyable. Pretty high concentration of
birders and photographers on the boardwalk.
