At 6:30 this evening, I saw the lark sparrow in Barry county. The bird was on the south side of Bowen Mills road, .3 miles east of Yankee Springs road. I saw the bird almost immediately perched at the very top of one of the small pines in the field on the east side of the house. The bird then flew east across the corn field, but returned in a couple minutes and perched on the same tree for probably a full five minutes, then flew toward the road. Shortly after it returned. The bird did not sing while I was there, but offered great views. The homeowner is very friendly. He told me people can park in his drive and are free to walk the field without asking permission first. He advised staying out of the corn field. The field east of his house is a narrow strip of land that goes quite a ways back, however, I never went any further back than those few trees next to his house. There is an active bluebird box in the field and hummingbird feeders hanging by his house.
