Kent Co. Listers,
The first year female Snowy Owl (from 1/15/09) was refound at Gerald
R. Ford Int. Airport this evening between 4:30 and 5pm. The bird was
located on the NE end of the airport along the Terminal Loop Rd.
After entering the airport from the W take a left turn just before
getting to the parking/loading areas onto Terminal Loop Rd. Travel a
short distance and you will see a sign pointing left for North General
Aviation. This road is unplowed but currently the conditions allow
for parking just off the Terminal Loop Rd. before the snow covers too
deeply. This is really the only potential place to park and see this
bird unless you pay. Scan to the NE and watch the fences a distance
off and light poles next to the road (it was perched above the Termial
Loop Road on a light post when we first found it).
Best of luck!

Birders: Yesterday I found a Snowy Owl at the Kent County Airport. The bird was
easily visible from the perimeter road that accesses the buildings north and
east of the main terminal. You do not have to go all the way around the loop in
front of the terminal, rather turn left off the terminal road before getting to
the new parking structure. The road is two way at that point, but eventually
becomes one way and you will have to come back out the way you went in.

Good owling,
Bill Sweetman
