White-winged Crossbill, Isabella County, 1/11/09

Mich-listers:

  By now this may be overdone, but this would be a first 
posting for the county.  WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS have been 
observed at several locations around Mt. Pleasant, but most 
recently (today) were on the campus of CMU in a mixed 
conifer grove (specifically the white pine) behind the 
Lutheran Church on Washington and Preston Streets.  There 
are many conifer stands with good cone crops this year, so I 
anticipate them being in and around campus for a while.
