White-winged Crossbill follow-up, Ottawa, 1/4

Greetings again,

Jer reported a flock of approximately 30 White-winged Crossbills as he saw the main group fly about.  There is sufficient cone producing spruce in the area; especially on the east side of 152nd.  The last we saw of the them was around 3:45(?) as it seems they were taking cover for the night in the heavy spruce just to the north of 152nd and Bentwood on the east side of 152nd.  I informed the homeowner, of the apparent roost site, what was going on;  good views were obtained from the roadside so I made no effort to seek permission for future birders to enter the property.

Please be careful in this area; lots of traffic.

Larger numbers of spruce with heavy cone numbers are also present along James just east of 160th.
