Greeting for the New Year
After checking our feeders this morning, we checked out Lake Macatawa
and found a single Purple Sandpiper near the entrance to Holland State
Park (east, or inland end of the channel) around 11:15 AM. It may be
moving around the general area, since we saw it fly in to a small point
near Parkside Marina, but later in the day we did not re-find it.
We also found one second-year Great Black-backed Gull and two
second-year Glaucous Gulls sitting on the ice in front of Kollen Park.
Kollen Park is at the east end of Lake Macatawa, on the south side.
Several Bald Eagles are also present, mostly near Kollen Park.
Good Birding,
Carl Manning
