Birders,
Some of the birds more recently seen by birders in the area south of Sault Ste Marie were found again today. The following is a list of the species of note:

Pine Grosbeak, Pine Siskins, Common Redpolls and Purple Finch - Feeders at 4541 9 Mile Road
Pine Siskins, Common Redpolls - Dunbar Forest feeders
Sharp-tailed Grouse - near 3374 9 Mile Road
Rough-legged hawks - roads east of 129 and north and south between 5 mile and 15 mile
Snowy Owl - near 7930 Maple south of 6 Mile (west side of road along a fence line) and at corner of Lower Hay Lake and 7 1/2 mile (near sunset, in flight)
Northern Hawk Owl - at the SE corner of M-48 and S McCabe Road
Great Gray Owl - 2 (finally decided after some debate) at the corner of lower hay lake and 7 1/2 mile road and south to the "Roe's Family" sign - seen hunting and perching in the fields to the east as early as 5:30 pm and up until dark - great views were had of both birds who frequently moved, but perched in visible trees, in the open and were easily seen by sight, binocular, scope, camera!!!

Nothing of note was seen at the power plant, on Sugar Island or on the LSSU campus.

Good luck birding if you are up here this weekend.
