I just posted on the umich Grove Street album 3 photos of a Yellow Throated Warbler seen today at a residence near the town of Smiths Creek MI, St. Clair county. This out of place bird was exceptionally cooperative and Steve Haas & I got many pics of it. The homeowner claims it has been there about 5 days eating at suet cakes regularly morning to evening.
We were also fortunate there to see/hear many other species present at this place near the Pine River: Wood Ducks, Eastern Towhee, Pileated Woodpecker, Red-bellied Woodpeckers, Yellow Bellied Sapsucker, Downy Woodpeckers; White-throated Sparrows, Chickadees, White-breasted Nuthatches, Cardinals, Mourning Doves, Chipping Sparrows, Song Sparrows, Dark-eyed Juncos, House Sparrows, Eastern Phoebe, Grackles, Robins, Red-winged Blackbirds etc. Great bird afternoon!
The homeowners Roger and Glenda Rose were most hospitable and are receptive and agreeable to other birders visiting. They only ask that anyone call first to be sure they are home and/or the Warbler is still there.
Call 810 367-6176 6164 Dove Rd. NE of the little town of Smiths Creek (where Tom Edison was thrown off the train as a boy!) From I69 exit #196 Wadhams Rd., south 2 miles on Wadhams to Dove, west on Dove to address. From I94 exit #262 Wadhams Rd., north on Wadhams about 6 miles to Dove, west on Dove to address.
This is a great bird for Michigan and St. Clair county and a lifer for my wife Syl and I both!
