Surf Scoter Branch County

  Robert Epstein and I stopped by the Kinderhook sewage lagoons in  
southern Branch County after our foray  today into the hinterlands of  
Ohio to see Smith's Longspurs.  In the easternmost of the sewage  
lagoons there was a male Surf Scoter.  These sewage lagoons are very  
birder friendly during the work week  but I do not believe they are  
open on weekends.    Exit I-69 on Copeland Road which is the  
southernmost exit in Michigan on I-69 and go west about a mile to  
Angola Road and then north a half mile to the entrance to the sewage  
lagoons on the west side of the road.
