Scott Jenex, Darlene Friedman, and myself (Steve Santner) found
a Black Scoter (adult male!) on Betsie Lake at Frankfort, Benzie Co. It
was near the large ship moored on the eastern? (Frankfort) side of the
lake. Also there was an immature (probable male) White-winged Scoter.
We also had a Hoary Redpoll in with a flock of about 250 Common
Redpolls. This bird was in Leelanau Co. Unfortunately, we got back so
late last night that I didn't write down specific information on
location. I think the flock was probably on the move because of its
size. I have never seen this size flock remain at a single feeder for
very long. Check all redpoll flocks - there seem to have been a large
number of Hoary Redpolls in the Lower Peninsula this winter/spring.
