Sandy Schacht and I observed an immature Black-legged Kittiwake among a
flock of 100-150 Bonaparte's Gulls at the Branch County sewage treatment facility
on the north edge of Kinderhook about 2:30 p.m. today. The birds were
mostly in the northwesternmost pond. About 2:45, the flock took off and flew
around. At least half of them left, the Kittiwake apparently among the
departures; at least, we could not find it again. I have photos if requested for
documentation.
Also present were one Greater Scaup and one White-rumped Sandpiper plus
numerous more common birds.
