Mich-Listers,

I just received the following email (sent Nov. 25) from some visiting birders from Iowa.

Hi Ric,

I wanted to thank you for the up-to-date postings on the Muskegon
Audubon website. I thought I would pass along some of our sightings
from this evening (25 Nov):

2 SHORT-EARED OWLS were hunting along a ditch on Swanson north of
Apple at 3:30 pm. Shortly after, a GOLDEN EAGLE perched on the high
powerlines along Swanson. After 5-10 minutes, it flew to the NW
out-of-sight.

At 5:00 pm on the dot, a SNOWY OWL came and landed on the side of the
road (Swanson) right in front of us! Not only that, but a Short-eared
Owl was mobbing it the whole time! Amazing. Both birds flew to the
west and were not seen again. Interestingly, a local came by and
mentioned he had seen the "big white one" in the area a couple days
ago.

I have photographs of both short-eared owls and the snowy owl as well
as the eagle but no card reader to upload them until I get back home!
Auugh!

Next is hitting Pere Marquette in the morning for the duck and sandpipers!

Good Birding,

Cory Gregory & Ashley Casey
Ames, Iowa
