Jeremy and I were at the south breakwall this morning between 7:30 and 8:30 and had 6 Purple Sandpipers; 4 were hanging together on the north side of the south breakwall before the bend.  The other 2 were just short of the bend but moved past the bend in the wall later in our stay.  These birds were out in the open and were not bothered by our presence.

About two-thirds down the breakwall past the bend on the channel side, the Harlequin Duck was in amongst the rocks and slowly moved out to about 100' away upon our approach.  As we left, she returned to the rocks and perched for us and began to preen.

Thank you Joshua for your report!

good birding,
mike overway
