The probable Rufous Hummingbird continues to be seen today (11/13) at the
residence of Bernie Coleman in Shields, MI,. Steve Gasser, Larry Abraham,
Carolyn Szaroletta, and myself were at the residence from 1100 to 1140 and
were treated to four brief looks as the Rufous/Allen's type came to Bernie's
hummingbird feeder on his front porch. Each of its feedings lasted from
five to forty-five seconds and then it generally flew to the north into a
spruce tree but out of sight. It likely continued to fly beyond the spruce
tree. The good part of Bernie's feeding location is it's in the front of
his house so you can remain obscurred in the comfort of your car. Listed
below are instructions pasted from Jerry Ziarno's posting yesterday, Nov
12th.

Good birding,

Saginaw Bay Birding

Per Jerry Ziarno's email: The residence belongs to Bernie Coleman, 850 N.
River Rd., Saginaw, MI. but on the map, this is in the village of Shields.
To get there, take M-46 west from Saginaw past the intersection with M-47.
Cross the bridge over the Tittabawassee River and turn north at the next
light on River Rd. His house is only about a 0.5 mile North of M-46 on the
east side of the road. Birders are welcome but no one is home during the
day. The feeder is hung near the front door. The house sits back from the
road and there is a circular turnaround at the end of the driveway. Do not
block the driveway as workmen may be coming.
