This morning, Robert Epstein and I saw a Franklin's Gull in with Ring-
billed Gulls on extensive flats along Lotus Road in extreme southern
Monroe County. There were at least four Lesser Black-backed Gulls
there as well. We tried for Franklin's Gull at the Pointe Mouillee
headquarters area in southern Wayne County twice during the day with
no success.
To reach Lotus Road, take I-75 south to the last exit in Michigan,
Summit Street. Take the first road to the right (west) off of Summit
which is Stern Road. Cross over I-75 and go south at the first road
you come to, Suder. Go south to the first right turn which is Lotus
Road. The gulls are typically on flats both east and west of the
series of railroad track you would cross.
