Greetings,

In addition to the birds already posted for the day, Adam and I also had an adult Laughing Gull in Cell 4 this afternoon. We left the bird there as it was actively foraging with a group of gulls and terns.

Shorebirds today included:

Killdeer
Semipalmated Plover
Black-bellied Plover (long Pond)
Ruddy Turnstone (We had over 100 today including a flock of 77 in the Vermet unit)
Lesser Yellowlegs
Whimbrel (8 total; 6 in Long Pond and 2 in the Lead Unit)
Marbled Godwit (1 in the Southwest Corner of Long Pond)
Pectoral Sandpiper (2 in Long Pond)
Dunlin
Sanderling (1 in Cell 3)
Least Sandpiper (2 in Long Pond. Pretty rare this late down here)
Semipalmated Sandpiper
White-rumped Sandpiper (a few in Long Pond)
Short-billed Dowitcher (1 in Long Pond)

Other notable sightings included a Mourning Warbler and a late White-crowned Sparrow in the same general area as the Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow. We did not locate any of the phalaropes today.

Good Birding,

Brad Murphy
