I had a credible report of a Bewick's Wren seen on the Manistee NAMC this
morning by a very experienced birder that is familiar with Bewick's and
Carolina Wrens.

The bird was found around 8:30 am at Star Key Pt. in Arcadia, Manistee
County. The reporter heard the bird sing in the thickets and then saw it
fly up to the top of a shrub and sing repeatedly in good view at a distance
of about 15 feet. The wren then flew away out of sight to the northwest.
The observer thought it was a Bewick's but was concerned that the bird
looked more brownish than the western birds he sees and that the supercilium
was a "buffy white" rather than stark white, both characteristics of the
eastern race Bewick's.

Several field parties checked the area this afternoon without luck after
hearing of the report.

I will try for it again tomorrow and will post if it is relocated.
