Greetings,

The Harris' Sparrow continued at Harbor Island in Grand Haven at 7:43 pm. I believe it was previously mentioned that the bird was in the company of two White-crowned Sparrows, as was the case this evening.
So, when your done with the lost cormorant, go check this guy out.

In Grand Haven at the first light south of the draw bridge on 31 go west (monroe?). After 1/4 mile take a right (north) on third ave. After a couple of small blocks you will pass over a bridge. As you complete the pass, start looking to your left. There is a triangle shaped area off grass bordered by the road you are on, the river (not Grand River), and a sidewalk. I believe the "small island of trees" mentioned by Chip would be to the west of the sidewalk. You can park to your left a couple of hundred feet ahead.

If you happen to be coming from the pier the road along the river is will take you to the same intersection at 3rd ave. - right after the historic train and grain depot.

The bird was feeding in the grass with his 2 buddies. They stayed pretty close to and would occasionally flush into the thicket between the grass and the river. As Jer and I viewed them, they moved between the telephone pole and the small hill next to the road.

Thanx to Bonnie for finding this nice lifer for us and to Chip for the update.

Good birding,
