We birded Lake Macatawa (Holland, Ottawa County) today, March 30 and
found six species of gulls between Holland State Park and the east end
of Lake Macatawa at Kollen Park.
Three Great Black Back Gulls - two third year and one adult, and two
second year Glaucous at Chippewa Point
Lesser Black Back Gull, second year and Adult Iceland/Kumlein's, at
VerPlank's (just east of Kollen Park and BoatWerks Restaurant)
Adult Glaucous on the beach in front of Ottawa Beach Inn (on the way to
Holland State Park).
Numerous Ring-billed and Herring.
Also, a good half-dozen White-winged Scoters.
Also, an Eared Grebe Thursday evening in the channel -- black below the
eye, golden "ears" growing in, no white tip on the bill (viewed from
75ft with 60X scope)
