Kirk Schrader called earlier today (3/21) to report the Saw-whet Owl was
still present in the Riverside Cemetery.
Directions again if needed:
The owl is in the section of the cemetery on the east side of Three Oaks
Road, just to the north of the intersection with Warren Woods Road.
There are two entrances into the east side of the cemetery from Three Oaks
Road Take the north entrance and take a right at the first road in the
cemetery. About halfway down that road there is a faucet on the right. There
are four large spruces near this area and the owl is present in one on a
lower branch (about 10' high) and about 10' out from the trunk of the tree
There is a lot of whitewash and pellets directly below the roost location
and Kirk was kind enough to put an orange safety cone at this spot.
(Basically, you just find the cone and look up....)
Good birding,
Kip Miller

Subject: BBCLIST: Bohemian Waxwing Update
Hi,
Sources at Whirlpool say as of March 20, at least 50 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were
still present at the Ad Center parking lot.
Thanks for those who sent me photos of the N Saw-whet Owl! They were all
great, but I only needed one (or rather could publish only one). I was
planning on swinging down there today to see if its still there, but the
weather may hamper my plans.
