Greetings,
The Northern Saw-whet Owl located a few days ago by Kirk Schrader in the Riverside Cemetery north of Three Oaks was still present today. (This is the same cemetery where Kirk located a Swallow-tailed Kite several years ago.)
The owl is in the section of the cemetery on the east side of Three Oaks Road, just to the north of the intersection with Warren Woods Road.
There are two entrances into the east side of the cemetery from Three Oaks Road Take the north entrance and take a right at the first road in the cemetery. About halfway down that road there is a faucet on the right. There are four large spruces near this area and the owl is present in one on a lower branch (about 10' high) and about 10' out from the trunk of the tree
There is a lot of whitewash and pellets directly below the roost location and Kirk was kind enough to put an orange safety cone at this spot. (Basically, you just find the cone and look up....)
Good birding,
Kip Miller
