Birders,
I've just returned from a lovely evening down at Pt. Mouillee watching (5)
SHORT-EARED OWLS working the Bloody Run Unit and the dikes along the Middle
Causeway. From ~6:30pm to 7:30pm the owls were chasing each other and (5)
NORTHERN HARRIERS that were also working the area. A great experience just
to follow them through the scope and binocs (too far away for pics).
Inland ponds are partially open and ducks have moved into them. Mostly
Coots, Gadwall, Mallard, Redhead and Canvasbacks.
Also seen were (2) American Wigeon and (2) Green-winged Teal and (1) Ruddy
Duck and (1) immature Bald Eagle
Redwings are setting up shop.
A pair of Tree Swallows rounded out the evening!
