A birding group from Ottawa County Parks located a handful of decent birds today. At Dunton Park near Holland in Ottawa County there was one second winter Iceland gull and one adult lesser black-backed gull on the ice with numerous herring gulls. At the Allegan State Game Area (Allegan County) there was one greater white-fronted goose (seen in flight with a large group of Canadas north of 116th and east of 62nd) and one juvenile golden eagle (after most of the group had left) south of 120th and east of 62nd).
Dunton Park is on the northeast shore of Lake Macatawa. From US 31, take the Lakewood Blvd. exit and travel west. Watch for a fork in the road at about 1 mile and stay left onto Douglas Ave. Continue on Douglas to Jackson St. (about 0.5 mile past River Road) . Turn left on Jackson which will take you to Dunton Park.
At ASGA, fair number of killdeer and red-wings along with a shrike sp. near the Todd Farm Headquarters on 118th and a couple rough-legged hawks.
