Greetings,

Dickcissels have been hard to come by so far this season in Berrien County,
with the only report being a single seen by Brad Bumgardner & team on May
17th.

Anyway, I decided to head out via bicycle yesterday to check some of the
traditional locations northeast of Three Oaks and I successfully located a
couple of singing birds along Mill Road (due south of New Troy), to the
north of the intersection with Elm Valley Road. The birds were in the first
vegetated field north of Elm Valley Road on the west side of Mill. (On the
south side of a largish red barn.)

There is identical habitat along Mill between Elm Valley and Kruger to the
south, but at least as of yesterday afternoon there were no Dickcissels
singing in those locations..

Good birding,

Kip Miller
