Birders,
I found a single BAIRD'S SANDPIPER in the Nelson Unit this morning at Pt.
Mouillee. It was located in the unplowed open field w/ wet spot just south
of the curve in the dike between North and Middle Causeways. It was among
three Killdeer also seen.
At 9am I spotted a fly-by SNOWY EGRET that landed at the tip of the sand
spit in the middle of the Vermet Unit. It was too far to digiscope from the
Middle Causeway, but I may have gotten a few flight shots w/ the D300 as it
flew across the dike from the Lead Unit.
Also seen were a single SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER in the Long Pond Unit, (10)
LESSER YELLOWLEGS, and a PEREGRIN FALCON that flew from the Nelson to the
Banana Unit. Nothing to report from Cell 3.
I ran into Mary Trombley and her family (Dad, nephew, mom(?) and
sister(?)...) They were scoping a single BLACK-NECKED STILT in the Long Pond
Unit (SW corner).
I'll post pics to the blog if any came out....
Jerry
