Hello,

At least 3 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS are being seen in Berrien County.
Sherrie Davis, who works at the Pioneer Memorial Church reported one yesterday afternoon (January 30th, 2008). Kip Miller & others went out there and found 3 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS, among several CEDAR WAXWINGS, EASTERN BLUEBIRDS & AM. ROBINS. Miller also managed to get a really great photo of 1 eating berries.

The Pioneer Memorial Church is located on the campus of Andrews University, just south of Berrien Springs off Niles Rd (aka M-139). Go in the main entrance to the university that runs off east side of Niles Rd/M-139 (I think its called University Drive). To the east, you will come to a cul-de-sac, and I believe the church is near there. Look for trees with berries (crab apples, etc).

Its also been suggested that we should search around the crab apple trees around the Apple Valley Market, off Niles Rd/M-139, just south of the Andrews University campus (on east side of road) going into Berrien Springs.

1 or more of the birds were relocated on campus as of about 10am this morning, January 31st.

This record represents the first report of BOHEMIAN WAXWING in Berrien County since December 19, 1995.

Good Luck,

Jon Wuepper
