The Bohemian Waxwing was still present today at Belle Isle in Detroit, in the same location mentioned in previous posts (north on Central Avenue and to the left of the red footbridge, along the creek). I had excellent views of it as it continued the behavior noted in other posts of perching for 10 minutes or so and then dropping down to feed for a few minutes before moving back up higher to perch again. It was still in the flock of Cedar Waxwings. The gray breast, cinnamon undertail coverts, and wing markings make it appear distinctively different than the Cedars.

On what open water was available, there was also a nice variety of waterfowl, including Goldeneye, Mergansers, Canvasback, Redhead, etc.

Good birding!

Gary Mason
