Hi,

Mike Mahler called this am (Fri, Feb 29) to say that the previously reported BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were still present at the Whirlpool Administration Center parking area, among the thickly fruited crab apples near the main entrance. This is off M-63 north of Benton Harbor.

I stopped by there yesterday at 5pm (Feb 28) and counted between 60 - 70 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS, with a few CEDAR WAXWINGS mixed in the flock. There were several ROBINS there too. The main flock sat in a maple tree, above the crab apples, while others were hidden in the crab apples.

The crab apples have so much fruit, and there are many trees that I can't see the berry supply running out soon (not in the next few days). The fruit is so thick, I couldn't see all the birds among the berries!

Good birding & happy leap year,

Jon Wuepper
