Gary Nelkie sent me the following emails at 4:01 PM & 4:43 PM today (Feb28th) regarding a Great Gray Owl found by Brad Fox, a FedEx driver. Brad first found the bird yesterday, Feb 27th, at the corner of 8th Avenue and North St. As of 4:30 PM today, Feb 28th, he was observing it one mile north of the Singing Bridge in the 2300 block of US-23. I've copy/pasted the two emails that Gary sent me.

Joe,
I have a legit report of a Great Gray Owl in Tawas City. Brad Fox, who is a FedEx delivery driver, stopped in to tell me the owl was perched on the corner of 8th Avenue and North Street yesterday morning (February 27th). He is a solid birder and hails from a family of good birders. He said he pulled his truck to a stop, admired the bird, phoned his mother with much excitement and reported it to her. He described the bird as "larger than a Great Horned, no ears, a long tail, very gray on breast" I absolutely believe him. He see's a lot of birds along his daily route and he's tipped me off to some good birds before. He is very familiar with Great Horned and Barred Owls. - Gary Nelkie
