Listers -

Generally a nice day to be inside.

The 17th Michigan birding list compilation has been sent to Daryl and he has
posted it at the list site:

http://www.geocities.com/daspery/mich/listers.html

There is still time to send me your updated material. This year's
compilation will be closed off in a month or so. In the meantime, we have updated
versions of several county lists posted and several new ones in the works.

If you go to the Livingston Co list on the list site, you will see it is
essentially three parts. In the first part, Lyle outlined key birding sites for
the county. In the second, he gave advice on how to bird the county month by
month. The third part is a basic annotated checklist.

We have been accumulating checklists for counties at a fair rate. I would
like to collect and post more of the site and birding guides for each county -
even without the checklist part. This would be a collaborative exercise,
updated as new information becomes available.

I approached Alan Chartier last year or the year before with this idea. I
did not want to step on his and Jerry's efforts in regard to "A Birders Guide to
Michigan." We thought reference to sites covered in the book and
supplemental information for a given county would not conflict with their publication.
Also, the info gathered might facilitate future editions of the guide.

I haven't broached this idea with Daryl yet. It may not be practical in
terms of the web site. Still, I would be interested in feed back and/or trial
submissions from interested parties.

Well ... as one lister said to another ... "Check ya later." - Doug
