Short-eared Owls- Hillsdale County

Thanks to Jack Reinoehl for reporting the Short-eared Owls in  Hillsdale.  My 
11 year old grandson, Mitchell, and I went looking for  the owls today 
(Saturday).  We arrived early, 5:00pm .  When we  turned onto  Burt Rd off Bird Lake 
Rd we spotted 3 birds circling near the  house on the left.  As we got closer 
we stopped for a better look--  Short-eared Owls.  While stopped another owl 
flushed beside the car, flying  a short distance ahead of us and perched on a 
post beside the road.  We  watched the owl for a few minutes as it ruffled it 
feathers and looked  around.  Think it was just waking up!  Proceeding  N on 
Tripp Rd  we found the 4 owls perched on a fallen tree.
