SHORT-EARED OWLS IN HILLSDALE COUNTY
This is a good time to look for Short-eared Owls
in Hillsdale County. Thursday evening, starting at the corner
of Bird Lake Road and Burt Road at 6:00 p.m. (just about sunset),
I saw 8 owls and 2 harriers by driving east one mile on Burt and north one mile on Tripp Road.
Some of the owls were perched. Fewer were seen on the same route 15 minutes later.

Elsewhere in the county, a Long-tailed Duck has been present
in a tiny patch of open water at the north end of Baw Beese Lake
(visible from Owen Park) for three weeks."
