Hello,

I received calls and emails today (Monday, Feb 4th) from both Kip Miller and Rick Brigham, who both saw the previously posted SPOTTED TOWHEE in Berrien County.

Miller saw it during 8am hour and Brigham around 11am hour. Taking a photo showing the bird's diagnostic "spotted" pattern on the back has been very frustrating. (It seems to stay in the brush). So any photos of the bird that show its back would be GREATLY appreciated, so that they can be sent to the Michigan Bird Records Committee.

A male EASTERN TOWHEE has been hanging out with the male SPOTTED TOWHEE. Thats good to know.

Directions again are (thanks Kip):

"* Exit US-31 at Exit 5 – the Niles Buchanan Road exit – and travel west into Buchanan.
** Shortly after you pass the McDonald’s and Pizza Hut, watch for Liberty Road on the left. (By the Fifth Third Bank)
 * Turn left onto Liberty and then make a left on Rynearson.
 * Rynearson continues southeast and then angles to the south.
 * Watch for Huron Drive on the right about .75 mile after turning off of Liberty.
 * Follow Huron almost to its end and you will see a small neighborhood park on the right.

 * Watch for the towhee in the brush on the right side of the park - or occasionally at the feeders in the yard to the left."

Good luck,

Jon Wuepper
