Greetings,

Yesterday, Phil Chu and I spent the day surveying waterbirds at
Pointe Mouillee SGA. There were thousands of waterfowl present off
the banana and at the east end of the Huron River mouth, dominated by
Canvasback and Common Merganser. Notable were a single male Northern
Shoveler and a southbound flock of 34 Northern Pintail.

There were many Ring-billed and Herring Gulls along with a smattering
of Great Black-backed Gulls. Also present was a Lesser Black-backed Gull.

Lastly, a flock of at least 48 Tree Swallows was foraging over the
Walpatich Unit. While these certainly seem late given the harshness
of this year's weather, I had 109 Tree Swallows at this site on 26 November.

Good birding,

Adam M. Byrne
