Snowy Owl x2 Allegan Co. 12-24-08

Greetings,

An adult female Snowy Owl was sitting atop a
phone pole on the east side of Blue Star Hwy between 136th and 138th Ave.
from 3:45pm - 4:15pm this afternoon in Allegan Co. It became quite alert
and flew east where it chased a second stark white adult male Snowy from
the ground. In an attempt to refind these birds we only located the female
along the south side of 138th east of Blue Star sitting comfortably on top
of a large silo with a cow painted on the dome. The later sighting was at
4:45PM.

Also, this morning during a walk along the Lake
Michigan shoreline with Ann Luft and Dave Slager we had 3 Glaucous Gull
and 3 Great Black-backed Gull between the Oval Beach and the mouth of the
Kalamazoo River in Saugatuck. A White-winged Scoter was in the channel at
the river mouth, as well.
