Birders,

Kevin Welsh, Craig Bateman and I birded today and found a few good birds. We started at the Salem landfill but it seemed there was no dumping going on and the gulls were in the air the whole time. Nothing of note here. We went to Visteon and there were hundreds of gulls in the mid morning.

Visteon,
2 Adult Thayer's Gulls, one with an interesting light eye.
1 first-cycle Iceland Gull
2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, both adults
4 Great Black-backed Gulls, all adults
100's of Herring Gulls and a handful of Ring-billed Gulls

Nothing interesting at Crosswinds Marsh, but the nearby landfill was attracting gulls and in the field near the dump (off Haggerty?) there was a Glaucous Gull.

At the Mouillee boat launch area there were 4-5 Tree Swallows and our eighth species of gull for the day, Bonaparte's Gull. There were quite a few Boni's but nothing else mixed in with them.

We ended back at Visteon, not many gulls but they were starting to flock in. We didn't see anything besides Herring and Ring-billed this time.

Good Gulling,
David Pavlik
