Greetings,

Today, Giff Beaton and I had a Red Phalarope on Lake Erie, just offshore
from Cell 3. The bird was feeding right along the edge of the outer dike,
roughly even with the midpoint of Cell 3. At one point it flushed out into
the lake with a flock of American Black Ducks, but soon drifted right back
to the shoreline. Any searchers would be best to walk in from Roberts Road
and walk from south to north along the outer edge of Cell 3.

Other noteworthy winter season birds were 5 Killdeer in Cell 5 and a lone
Tree Swallow feeding over the Long Pond unit. There were also 5 Cackling
Geese milling around Cell 4 with a large group of Canadas.

Good birding,

Adam M. Byrne
