Hello,

I just learned today (Aug 23) that a SWALLOW-TAILED KITE was observed on Au
gust 21 about 11am, in Covert Township, Van Buren County. It was seen flyin
g along 78th Street, about 1/2 mile north of 48th Avenue by Mindy Walker of
Sarett Nature Center.. A landmark at the location is a "monster truck".
This location is not far from the Nature Conservancy's "Ross Preserve", whi
ch is 1000+ acres managed by Sarett (Covert Twp). The main entrance is off 
42nd Ave, between Blue Star Hwy (west) and 78th street (east). Another entr
ance (wilderness entrance) is at west=A0end of 38th Street, west of 78th St
reet. Again, the bird was not actually seen in the preserve,
 but close to i
t.
