I am a visitor to Michigan from California. I was at Manistee this 
morning, Aug 19, and found a banded Piping Plover on the beach just south 
of the South Jetty. It ranged from the jetty to a distance of 50 yds 
south, sometimes away from the shoreline.There were two Baird's 
Sandpipers as well. Perhaps you can post it on MI listers to give others 
a chance to look at them. I was able to get close and take numerous 
photos at 20 to 30 feet away. I use slides so I don't have a means to 
send electronically. When I get to CA, I will send a photo to the 
appropriate banding group.
