Walt Polowski reports that there is an adult male Western Sandpiper in the new wetlands area of the Carleton Landfill. This is located next to Crosswinds Marsh. The new mudflats are on the south side of Arkona between Haggerty and Clark at the north end of the landfill. He reports the wetland has about 35 shorebirds which is down from the 60 plus of the past week. The Western Sandpiper has been around for several days. Yesterday there was a Bairds Sandpiper as well. It looks like this new mudflat is the best game in town for shorebirds.
I had a couple Grasshopper Sparrows still hanging around the Eloise Farmland in Westland on Saturday.
