Greetings all,

I found a Violet-green Swallow feeding over the lower harbor in Marquette this afternoon. I suspect it is a female type as it wasn't as bright as the species can get. Very distinctive was the nearly completely white rump that had only a thin dark line running down the top of the rump to the tail. There were several Tree and a couple of Barn Swallows with it for a direct comparison and this bird was smaller and more delicate then the Trees.? Several birders from Marquette were able to get down and observe this bird. We occasionally lost it, but it would return. I wasn't sure where it was when we left, but I will be looking for it again later today and post an update.

We observed the bird from the Shiras Plant Coal Dock, this is a working dock, but the public is allowed on it. PLEASE be careful and stay away from the trucks working. I imagine this bird could be refound from several vantage points from the lower harbor.

Hopefully more later,

~Skye Haas
